Photographic-Memory > This year's Equestrian Award was given to Teresa Mull with her trainer Cathi Carroll accepting on her behalf. This award was given by George T. N. Roberts as his recognition of her horsemanship. This is what was read: "Teresa Mull is the recipient of this year’s equestrian award. Teresa has been a good friend to the GO organization for many years. She has been an active exhibitor at all levels of competition and has many times provided unsolicited support to our shows. She truly fulfills all criteria for this year’s award based on: She is an active equestrian Personally contributes to the equestrian sport Always exhibits good sportsmanship Has a high regard for all horses welfare "Thank you for all you have done and do"

Photographic-Memory > Mrs. Fancy was born in a non-horsey family 89 years ago. At age 3 her mother found her out in the street standing under the ice wagon draft horse petting him. As she pursed her love of horses she cleaned stalls as a teenager to be able to ride. While living in Texas she began training and showing hunter and jumpers with her family. They relocated to Oklahoma in 1960 almost 50 years ago and opened her barn where she began teaching English riding and jumping. This is where we and many of you older generation meet Mrs. Fancy, as she hosted some of the first hunter jumper shows in this area. I know I can still remember her hunt course, covering about a ½ mile on an outside course complete with a pond, dike and all solid fences. Many parents remember the red ant hills near the ring and holding their breath waiting for the train to pass the arena. As she continued to teach others all she knew about riding she also formed one of Oklahoma's first official Hunts and was the master for over 30 years prior to retiring her pack in 2003. It was her dream to have a therapeutic riding center and she and her daughter Joy began it together in 1977 and have provided free therapeutic riding for 32 years serving 170 students now. Lucille's indominatable spirit and energy have not lessened over the years. In fact in 2008 she was the judge at one of our first area Hunter Trials hosted at Bridlewood Equestrian Facility on a cold 40 degree days with 30 mile an hour winds. It is George's hope that this small token of appreciation will encourage her to continue along the path which has been so rewarding to others.

Photographic-Memory > JESSI TURNER MEMORIAL TROPHY Awarded to Tess Von Hemel (268 points in 9 shows - Short Stirrup Division) Year End Hunter Award - to go to the GO Junior Member, older or younger, with the highest number of year end points in ANY division. Jessi Turner was dedicated to her horse and riding well. She spent countless hours working around the stables, grooming, cleaning or helping the younger equestrians at the barn. She enjoyed a challenge, often training the younger equestrians at the barn. She enjoyed a challenge, often training Mustangs that others had given up on. Jessi never met a horse she didn't love. Although Jessi was not able to fulfill her dream of one day riding for her country, if there are horse shows in Heaven, she is at the top of the class, always wanting to jump just a little higher. Jessi was a treasured gift from God. She was so full of goodness and love, it filled her and spilled out to warm the hearts of those around her. The JESSI TURNER MEMORIAL TROPHY is a tribute to Jessi and an inspiration to young riders everywhere. This year, the award was won by Tess Von Hemel. Showing in the Short Stirrup Division, earning 268 points in 9 shows.
